Surprises and Calamities
Hello, friends,
This is my Christmas wish for you and yours:
That you have plenty of love shown and spoken to you
That peace dwells in your home and with your family
That you are and will stay healthy
Was your year full of challenges, opportunities, and surprises? Oh, my, ours surely was!
Two grandsons graduated, Camden from high school and Julian from college, but with our health challenges mentioned below, Bob and I weren’t able to attend.
Health-wise, there was a four-month period of tests and treatments for the possibility of cancer. Thankfully, that’s resolved. Two dental emergencies and eye surgery.
Our family lost two beloved members. A cousin who was like a sister passed, leaving a large family. Leukemia had made her unwell for years, so her suffering was ended.
A husband, father, son-in-law, and provider was diagnosed with lung cancer. Shock and sadness at an untimely death in the prime of life, only eight months later. The stress unfortunately affected a long-awaited visit from our daughter.
Our fur baby, fourteen-year-old Sandy, left the family to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
Water leaks. carpets removed; carpeting installed. Three major appliances were repaired but then, too soon replaced. God provided cash for all the emergency expenses.
We look for peace in each situation–the proud, happy ones, and the frustrating or heart-breaking–and seek to be content in every circumstance.
So, in closing, may your days slow down so that you can have fun! Enjoy every happiness of this special time of year. Let the little things go. Baking, lights, and decorating won’t be missed.
Then, if necessary, like our family, trust God to take care of the bigger things–misunderstandings and missed opportunities, by letting them go as well.
Peace on earth and goodwill toward men,
Warmly,
XXOO
